GCH3 Car Rally 2021

Well, the 2021 Magical Mystery tour is over. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

I would like to thank Truckie for helping to set and check the route, Fanny also for helping to check the route. Dry Spell (Mrs Mad Mike) for putting up with me being away to set route.

In particular, special thanks to Gigie (Mrs Rug) and Victoria (Mrs Fanny) for doing all the purchasing of food and drinks, and the catering for two dinners, and two breakfasts.

Thanks to all who pitched in at the BBQs, the serving of dishes (covid style), the cleaning up afterwards. All the rooms and Units were spotless.

The rally this year was shorter, less questions, less dirt road. Everyone completed this year.

Results are as follows:-

All questions answered correctly, in first place Badger, Phone Ranger, Ah Pisto and Legs Kimbo
With half question wrong in second place Mr and Mrs Sir Two Dogs
With one question wrong in third place Mr and Mrs S-Bends
With two questions wrong tied for fourth place Mr and Mrs Dr Death, and Mr and Mrs Sir Jo with Rug.
With 3.5 questions wrong in sixth place Mr and Mrs Shat and Mr and Mrs Jigsaw
With 4 questions wrong tied for seventh place Mr and Mrs Now Loved and Mr and Mrs Sir Slab
With 4.5 questions wrong in ninth place Mr and Mrs Kwakka
With 6 questions wrong in tenth place Mr and Mrs Iceman
With 7.5 questions wrong in eleventh place the Pink Pussies
With 10 questions wrong in twelfth place and wooden spoon Mr and Mrs Caustic

Considering there were 158 questions, this was a good result by all. It means that nobody shortcutted, and did the whole route. Congratulations.

The rally will be on again next year, destination unknown at this time. For those interested, let me know. I already have about 20 sign up.

Run 2242… Circumference

Circumference, in true Hashing spirit, agreed to step up to the plate and put on tonight’s run at short notice after Caustic pulled out at short notice, despite it being scheduled to be his birthday run.

We started from the car park of the Tiger’s AFL club, a venue discreetly hidden one block back from Brisbane Road near Harbour town. Quite honestly, I had no idea whatsoever that it was even there, despite twenty years on the Gold Coast!! Guess that is what comes from not having any interest whatsoever in AFL, whatever that is…I mean, no such thing as offside? Played on a ground that is a circle? Huh??

Bang on 6.00pm, off we all set, runners and walkers heading off into the depths of Labrador, past what I think was the Dodgers touch footy club. I could stand to be corrected on that one. The walk was of about 4km distance and we meandered through pockets of bushland and behind houses that back onto either Loder’s Creek and Biggera Creek. Again, areas that to me, like others in the pack, were virgin territory! We might well be criticised for being walkers, but the fact is that all of us were runners at one stage and we are all now doing what we can within our limits!! Think about that before you say we’re as weak as piss for walking!!

A few hardy chaps kept running past the walkers, as Circumference had clearly set the run to meander on and off the walking trail. I kept seeing that little bastard Hot Dick more times than I care to think about as he huffed and puffed past us.

Circle took place back at the carpark. No visitors and no returning runners. We were all in a hurry to get into the club for a nosh and a few beers so there were no major incidents, no jokes in the circle, no misdemeanours, and the prick of the week was awarded by me to Jigsaw, for doing a Truckie and forgetting everything tonight, including his phone, his money….in fact everything but his car keys.

Into the club we went and we all lined up to order our meals. Most got the $12.90 steaks, but some of us more adventurous got the rissoles and the lamb. In all, a very enjoyable night was had by all.

Lastly, let’s keep Truckie in our thoughts, as he’s in Pindara Hospital having had a chunk of melanoma taken out of his heel. Apparently he is not going to be all that flash for quite some time. Get well soon mate!

Run 2241…Hare Badger

Well the extravaganza this week was set all the way up on the northern end of the coast at Parasite Point otherwise known as the elephants graveyard.

Much to the consternation of the illustrious Hare “the Badge”a crowd of enormous numbers turned up for his event so much so that he was aghast that he would be short on food and hightailed it off to surrounding houses begging for scraps.

Runners and walkers hit it off together towards the river made a sharp right turn and it was on.

The topography in this part of the world is as flat as a shit Carters hat and so excessive speeds were recorded by the front running bastards.

As expected leading the runners in record time were the three amigos Rug, Circumference and the Magician who fed off each other peloton style to record this amazing feat.

The also-rans then started to dribble in lead by Hot Dick and company.

Ambling in at a very controlled pace were the obligatory walkers.

Now the food.

Entree consisted of rather generous cubes of cheese, thinly cut salami and oysters.

The Badge excelled even himself with enough quantities of chilli con carne to feed the whole assembled rabble.

Run report was given by Hot Dick Who described it as memorable with a few twists.

Score 8/10

Walk report delivered by Shat who described it as aimless with no twists. 8/10.

Charges were too numerous to mention however as expected Miss Carriage in his filthy orange hi viz outfit recounted the fate of Sir Valiant who got in his Rangie drove to Dubbo did a U-turn at the main roundabout and then drove back to the coast just so he could join the group at the run.

What a sacrifice.

Rowland Sol another epic and will be difficult to top this like next week.
